Welcome Detroit Innovation Families to a new school year!

I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Detroit Innovation this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! I am honored to be your principal and look forward to another year watching your scholars grow!

Our mission at DIA is to provide a stimulating and supportive environment that empowers scholars to reach academic excellence and to be leaders in the community. Whether at home through remote learning or in our innovative classrooms, we are tasked with immense goal of providing our students with a high quality education that will allow them to have abundant choices in their future. Our dedicated educators have been engaged in professional learning opportunities to keep their teaching skills honed, and our committed custodians have been meticulously cleaning and disinfecting our building. This year will be unique, but I am confident that we have the right team to see us through it!  I also want to reassure you, that the health and safety of DIA staff and students is, and always will be, my priority. No matter what situation we face, I know we will all— staff, scholars and parents— will rise to the occasion!

Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community and this is MOST important now more than ever. It truly does take a village and at DIA we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture and we greatly appreciate the support you provide for your children at home and at school to help them meet their learning goals.

Communication between home and school is critical, especially during a time when circumstances can change overnight. I will provide information to parents via text, email, school reach messages, Detroit Innovation Academy’s newly updated website, DIA Facebook and Instagram pages, and through Classroom DoJo posts, so please ensure your information is updated in PowerSchool and you are following our pages.  If you need help updating this information, you can email our office staff at diainformation@diachampion.org or rmiller@diachampion.org  and they will assist you.

This school year will be a new journey for all of us, but please know that I am committed to keeping all stakeholders healthy and safe while we navigate through these unchartered waters together. I look forward to another great year with you and your child!

Best Regards,

Marina Hanna-Kaminski
